Summary

As part of the One Planet Network project ‘Procurement across the value chain’, this report explores how procurement can be used as a tool to support more sustainable food systems.

The review resulted in the identification and curation of 7 impact typologies across UN World regions: 1) Sourcing local through fresh and seasonal food items; 2) Smallholder-friendly procurement; 3) Supporting a healthy and nutritious diet; 4) Reducing waste from food and packaging; 5) Fair employment conditions; 6) Sourcing organic produce; 7) Increase of plant-rich food and supporting animal welfare.
