This report explores Ouagadougou’s food system, and looks at how urban food considerations are integrated into the city’s governance systems. It offers a multifaceted examination of Ouagadougou, from its demographics and climate to its economy and governance. The report highlights the need to boost productivity, sustain employment, reduce regional disparities, and enhance the nutritional balance of the city. As a signatory of the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP, 2015), Ouagadougou addresses urban food system challenges, engaging with civil society, researchers, and international organisations. This holistic approach paves the way for future research and informed interventions, highlighting the essential role of food systems in urban resilience.
